If you've always wanted to see a working nuclear power plant from the inside and learn more about its operation, then you are lucky, because we are currently planning a guided tour through the KKW Leibstadt. Since a maximum of only 18 persons can participate per tour, we would ask you to let us know via a short E-Mail if you are interested in participating (this is not a binding registration)
The tour itself is in English, will start at 1:00 pm and take roughly 4.5 hours. In addition to the regular tour offered on the website of the KKL (which includes a exhibition in the info center, a VR tour of the nuclear reactor during the change of the fuel elements and a visit of the control room and cooling tower), we will get a "Zonenführung" in the controlled area of the power plant including:
- Reactor building, 28 m, Under the dome atop of the reactor
- Fuel element storage, 6 m, View of the storage pools
- Turbine room, 13,5 m, View of the turbines through lead glass window
- Turbine room, -6,5 m, below the condenser
- Turbine room, 0 m, feed water pumps
We are still planning the travel to and from the power plant, but we will most likely use public transport and it will take ca. 2:30 h to get there.
